Yummy in my Tummy is a colorful, educational book for children, written by Saragine Francois and illustrated by Antara Majumder. Dylan loves to eat fruits, as do the other children in his class. One day the class is eating various fruits that each student brought with him or her for a snack. Some of the other children notice Dylan eating bell peppers and state that bell peppers are not fruit. Dylan and his teacher both tell the class that they are fruit and she decides that the class needs to learn about fruits that are typically mistaken as being vegetables and the importance of them. As the class learns about fruits and how something is considered to be a food and the nutrients that each has, the class becomes excited as well as they know these taste delicious.

Young readers will learn right along with Dylan’s school class about fruits and vegetables and how foods are classified as one of these in Saragine Francois’ children’s book, Yummy in my Tummy. This is a great way to teach children about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables in order to have healthy bodies. The phrase “yummy in my tummy” is repeated on several pages and this is something that young readers will catch onto and will enjoy saying along with Dylan and his classmates. The illustrations are very vibrant and make the fruits look so appealing to the reader. This book is a simple, straight-forward approach to teaching a somewhat confusing concept and encouraging healthy eating habits.
