Torsils in Time (The King of the Trees, 2) by William D. Burt is the second in this series. Rolin and Marlis are enjoying their picnic one autumn day. The griffins, Windsong and Ironwing, are there with them and they find a link between a silver starglass, five ravens, and a handful of pearls. They have to survive in a land far away from their family and friends. Saving Lucambra from falling into darkness is the main theme of the book.
This book is as adventurous and exciting as the first one. Rolin and Marlis and their tryst with the King of the Trees form the theme of the adventure. Their trust in the King of the Trees during dire circumstances adds to the mystery aspect of the story. The book is full of fantasy and whimsy and the 'wherren' and 'therren' part of the book is very enjoyable. Fantasy and adventure stories are always exciting to read because they inspire the reader's imagination. The characters, names, and places are all unique and they reflect the creativity of the author.
This is a good series for parents to buy for their children to stimulate their thinking on a different plane. The threads of fantasy, adventure, and excitement run through the book, making it an enjoyable read. The black and white sketches also help in making the story attractive. An excellent series for children to read and own.
