25 Poems To Celebrate The First Amendment written by Andrew Bushard is a creative collection which introduces readers to poetic writing and patriotism. This book represents exactly what the title topic is: freedom of speech. Americans love their freedom, but often don't appreciate it enough or, for that matter, even recognize the power they themselves hold because they have it. For example, in one of his poems the author talks of young students trying to abolish certain amendments, but without the first amendment that act would not be possible. It is possibly the greatest form of freedom an American can experience, yet it is often taken for granted.

Andrew Bushard explains his love, respect, and complete devotion to securing the first amendment in his poetic works. The author is not only expressing his own first amendment right by stating how strongly he agrees with and supports the subject, but he also throws in an explanation of the amendment itself, historical figures, and events. This book could be used by teachers and parents as an English or history lesson, a creative writing project, or used as a discussion piece. All the amendments are important, thus the reason they were created, but without the first amendment we, the people, would not have the freedom we know today. Andrew Bushard shows a love for our great nation, although it has its faults, and recognizes that we are lucky to have this freedom and should protect it with all we have. These 25 poems were refreshing to read as they show true American patriotism at its fullest.
