A Book Without a Title by Sonii Marie is a woman's account of a difficult period in her life. After the death of her best friend, the author retreats into a depressive state. Even after she learns she has another reason to live, she can hardly go through the motions of daily life. The narrator endures an abusive home life until she can no longer bear it. She forms a connection with a man, but she worries about revealing the most important part of herself. After she tells him her secret, the man accepts the woman and invites her into his life. The author pushes him away but hopes to regain his attention after she realizes the depth of her love for him. The woman experiences periods of hurt and hope as the reader follows her journey.
Sonii Marie's book reads like a confession. Her outpouring of emotion flows like silken sadness over the reader, stirring a visceral reaction to her words. The author's feelings are heartbreaking, as she seems to suffer daily. Readers may find themselves thinking about her experiences, as many of her situations are relatable. Readers may wish they could change the narrator's circumstances many times, but they can only look on as the events unfold. Her grief is almost palpable, and no one can save her from it. Love finds her unexpectedly, and yet she pushes it away before clinging to it fiercely. Readers who enjoy books about self-discovery and romance will like A Book Without a Title.
