A Boy’s Guide To Making Really Good Choices by Jim George is an excellent book and great talking point for parents to use with their sons. Children are faced with having to make choices on a daily basis. Some are easy choices about what to eat or wear, but then other choices have significant consequences such as the friends that a child spends time with; and if they choose to follow peers in bad choices or stand up because they know it is wrong. This book is divided into ten chapters and each chapter focuses on a different topic, or a different choice. For example, there is a chapter on choosing to read the Bible and another on choosing to pray. Choosing to do these things will then help with the choice of who to spend time with and also choosing what to say which are topics to follow in later chapters. Each chapter is divided into well-defined sections, have questions to be answered, and lines to take notes on.

Jim George’s book is geared toward boys ages 8-12 and this is a book that they will want to read. The book is visually appealing as it has a colorful and bright cover, color throughout the book, and well-defined, short sections so that it is not overwhelming. While reading this book, it is as if the author is speaking with you, not lecturing and not talking above you, but more like having a conversation which is important for keeping the reader’s attention. This book is a great workbook and can also be used to help start discussions between parents and child as well. I highly recommend A Boy’s Guide To Making Really Good Choices for youths and boys.
