A Dash of Desire by Charity Parkerson is the second book in the Spiced Life series. Riley Henderson finds herself with a flat tire by the side of the road in the pouring rain. It is just her luck that Tristan Daniels comes to her rescue, offering her a ride back to the small town where she is headed to stay with her aunt. Thinking that’s the last she will see of Tristan, Riley is shocked to learn he is the town preacher. Having lost his wife at a young age, Tristan is taken aback by Riley, but strangely attracted to her. Will fireworks go off or will Riley’s past come back to haunt her?

Miss Parkerson’s novel kept me entertained from page one. Although the second in a series, A Dash of Desire stands alone. I wish, though, that I had read the first book to know a bit of the back story to Riley’s life. Also, as a personal preference, I do like more of build up to my romances. Tristan and Riley have sparks flying from the first moment they meet. I did like Tristan as a character more than Riley. I felt that, with all her fire, she should have been able to tell Tristan her secrets much more readily and get help. I loved quite a few of the supporting characters, though, and wished there was more time spent with them. Overall, A Dash of Desire is a steamy weekend read, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
