A Path Toward Home (The Annals of Avonea) by Heather Lorenz is the story of a young girl, Constance, who is living with her uncle and aunt in Canada. She lives a normal, unexciting life until one day she finds herself in a dream world. One afternoon, while swinging, she finds herself transported to a new world. Prince Drinian and his mentor Woodphere are the rescuers in her new world, who want to help her to get back home. While embarking on the journey, Constance meets a young man who tells her that there is another route which will help her reach home quicker. Whom should she believe? Constance has to reach home quickly so that her uncle will not get worried.
The book, like any other fantasy story, is filled with adventure, mystery, and action. The action makes it fast paced and readers will find it difficult to put it down. All children will love the adventures of Constance in Avonea. The dialogues flow well and readers are pulled into this fantasy adventure, laced with romance and action. The story has a lot of twists and turns which merge well with the main plot.
The narration is convincing and the journey of Constance and her new friends is a thrilling read. The adventures are captivating and children will definitely want to see a sequel to this story. All the characters in the book are lovable and they all leave a lasting impact in the mind of the readers.
