When three fishing buddies find a strange and mysterious object on a wilderness trail, they have no idea of the danger that it signifies. They aren’t the only people to see a blinding flash of light as the object plummets to the earth. The military, led by the ruthless Air Force Colonel Frank Warner, intends to claim this possibly extraterrestrial object for their own purposes. Don Kirtner, Brian Rostic, and Jim Catano just wanted a peaceful fishing trip deep in the back country of the Rocky Mountains. They end up with a whole lot of trouble. Their guide, the beautiful Karin Anderssen, is somehow involved, but Don, who soon develops strong feelings for her, is not sure how. All he knows is that shortly after seeing a blinding flash of light from the object, he has unusual dreams and his eyesight has inexplicably improved. The three friends realize that the object is, in fact, a source of sustainable energy, derived from sunlight. It does not pollute, or waste, and uses none of Earth’s dwindling fuel resources. It is the perfect source of power. However, many corporations and interested parties would not like to see their revenue cut off, even though this power source would transform humankind. Targeted by killers and traitors at every turn, can Don and his mish-mash team of friends and allies evade the rich and powerful forces that seek to destroy him and grab the object?

This book is an explosive and exciting cocktail of action, adventure, espionage, and betrayal. Don Kirtner, the main character, is a man of honor and determined to unearth injustices as he develops this energy source for the good of others. He finds an almost overpowering adversary in the murderous Frank Warner, who will stop at nothing to achieve his own ends. Don uncovers even more reprehensible corruption, stemming from deep within the government and the political system. It seems as if everyone is rotten and he wonders whom he can trust. Author Larry Halonen keeps a strong grip on the many twists and turns in this complex plot. He competently steers the reader along, without revealing too much. It is great when a book has the power to surprise towards the last pages. Although I feel the descriptions sometimes slow the pace of the action, generally the book races along, taking the reader on a roller-coaster ride. Very enjoyable!

The descriptions that the above reviewer mentioned may slow things down may be true but for me it helped me visual exactly where everything was happening and what it looked like. I felt I was right there because the details were so well written. I am serious...I could not put the book down and I don't do a lot of fiction reading!!
