A Soldier's Silence is a romance military thriller novel by T.C. Grantham. It's been fifteen years since China and Russia teamed up to launch a war against the United States and its allies. On an outpost off the coast of Belize, twenty-seven-year-old Major Presley Giles, a US Army Special Forces psychiatrist, survives a brutal attack from a fellow soldier. Soon, Presley's supervising officer, Colonel Jason Weaver, tasks her with rehabilitating a captive soldier named Captain William Miller. Feeling an instant mutual attraction, Presley and Miller begin to fall in love. However, Weaver's shocking sexual assault on Presley turns her life upside down, and she soon becomes his prisoner in all but name. As Presley looks for a way out, she unwittingly finds herself embroiled in a deeper conspiracy with far-reaching consequences.
Author T.C. Grantham mashes multiple genres to offer readers a heart-wrenching tale full of mystery, romance, suspense, and thrills. The narrative shifts through different tones to keep readers guessing until the end. Grantham moves the plot at a smooth pace, with a few well-chosen curveballs along the way that you never see coming. You can't help but feel for Presley. She can never be sure who to trust and is put through the wringer for most of the story. But there are moments of tenderness during the scenes between Presley and Miller. I also enjoyed the banter between Presley and Jackson. Action and intrigue fill the last few pages, and I think military thriller aficionados will love those sequences. A Soldier's Silence is the kind of book I will recommend to readers of thrillers, romance, and mysteries alike.
