A Swing Set For Her Birthday by RyAnn Adams Hall is an adorable story that captures the excitement of Kayleigh, a little girl who gets a swing set for her birthday. Kayleigh loves to swing and she goes to the park or her friend’s house to play on their swing set. It is her favorite pastime during the day and her parents notice that. They decide to get her a swing set for her birthday. While Mommy and Kayleigh are away at the store, Daddy buys the swing set and builds it. When they get home, it starts raining and Mommy hopes Kayleigh will not see the swing set till it stops raining. The next morning when Kayleigh sees the swing set, she is really happy and excited. Kayleigh cannot wait to go out and play. She runs out without having her breakfast. She loves it very much.

The story is simple and it captures the love, joy, and family bonding of Kayleigh and her parents. The story is warm and the love between Kayleigh and her parents is tangible throughout the book. Kayleigh’s excitement on seeing her new swing set is palpable to young readers. The illustrations are charming and they breathe life into the story and characters. It is a good story for bedtime storytelling and read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Books like this should be introduced to youngsters during their initial stages of reading because the story is nice and simple and it is a quick and easy read.
