Abraham Lincoln is just about the most popular American President ever and this CD format rendition of Seth Grahame-Smith's alternative biography, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", will keep Mr. Lincoln foremost in all listener's minds and hearts. In an interview at the end of the nine CD's that comprise "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter", Mr. Grahame-Smith does admit that there are more biographies of the great American President that can be imagined, but his addition to this number is unique and excellent. Using his mother's death as initial inspiration, the frontier boy from Little Pidgeon Creek in Indiana is shown to form a friendship with ageless and good vampire, Henry Sturgess, and with his trusty sharpened axe, goes about slaying vampires, especially those who feed on worn, sickly and elderly African-American slaves. The deaths of Lincoln's possible love, Ann Rutledge, his longtime rival, Stephen Douglas, and his beloved son, Willie, are recounted brilliantly, and, yes, sadly.

"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer" is finely read and retold by Scott Holst in this CD version of Seth Grahame-Smith's alternative history novel. Listeners will always recognize Lincoln's Mid-Western accent and the voices of the other characters as this story plays out. The actual history of Abraham Lincoln's life is believably intertwined with Grahame-Smith's vampires. The listener's heart will miss a beat when hearing the section where Willie Lincoln is poisoned by a vampire and will rejoice when vampire hunter William Seward survives the attack on his family the night Abraham Lincoln is assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" should be on listening lists everywhere. It is surely fabulous!
