Acts of Treason is the second novel in the Max Kenworth Suspense Thriller series by Patrick Parker. Max Kenworth was sent to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey for a simple task: check the nuclear weapons' security and get back. However, Max did not expect the nuclear weapons to be stolen right from under the noses of the Turkish authorities, and he was once again left chasing after the enemy that evaded him every time. Back home, politics and political drama were heating up. Secrets were revealed, sabotage plans were made, and a target was placed on Max’s head. In all that chaos, Max had to ensure the nukes were returned safely and kept out of the hands of dangerous people. But would he succeed? Or would he perish?
A worthy example of a great thriller, Acts of Treason has action, suspense, a fantastic main lead, and a remarkable plot that hooked me to the story until the end. I loved the tension and the intensity of the action. Max was a worthy protagonist. He was clinical in his approach and was very observant. Author Patrick Parker ensured Max was always at the forefront of readers’ minds. The story's setting was perfect, and the narrative style was descriptive enough to make me feel like I was always right next to Max. The subplot with Jenny and Stew was interesting as well. There were clues for the readers to find, and I loved how intricate the story became as it progressed. The pace was fast without being too much. I was lost in the pages and finished it in one sitting. My eyes were tired, but it was so worth it. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Max’s story.
