Alliteration Boosts Communication: The ABCs of Vocabulary by Larry Carey is a fun way to introduce children of any age to everyday words to build their vocabulary. It is never too early for children to learn, especially with tools to help them remember better. Alliteration is used here, pairing words in a phrase with the same letter or sounds at the beginning of an adjacent or closely connected word. The book goes through the alphabet with creative alliterations and colorful and modern illustrations by Wheeler Lentz that dazzle the eye with tongue-twisting and funny phrases like Jinxed Jaguar Juggles Javelins. Below the catchy phrases are the definitions for the vocabulary words that may be more advanced, like jinxed and javelin.
Larry Carey is an educator who understands that reading is an essential and necessary skill that builds a solid foundation for all children in their educational journey. Alliteration Boosts Communication is a practical and easy-to-learn educational tool to enhance any child’s learning process. A parent or adult can easily read to or with the child, laughing at the silly artwork or reviewing the more complex vocabulary words introduced. Companion activity books also help advance learning new vocabulary and alliteration so that children can make up unique phrases. I strongly recommend it for children of all ages, as alliteration is a fun and creative technique to enhance learning!
