Losing a pet is always an emotional experience. Their passing from whatever cause always leaves a deep void. Jesse Kuhn brings comfort to readers who have experienced such a loss in Always Here - When a Cat Dies. The author reminds readers that cats are more than just animals. They become part of the family and take over our hearts as well as parts of the home. Cats choose us and have their own way of communicating, seeming to have telepathic perception. They sometimes take on the role of guardians without making a fuss about it. The book reminds us of their quirky nature. They enjoy sitting on laptop keyboards and providing morning wake-up calls. The author suggests that we should not rush the grieving process. The use of AI introduces a new perspective. It can listen and sympathize without being emotional. There are tips on choosing an AI companion, along with advice on how to interact with it and set up boundaries. Cats still send subtle signs of their presence after they are gone. We can set up daily rituals in memory of the cat, keeping something that belonged to them, or simply lighting a candle.
Jesse Kuhn is a writer who heals others through telling stories. Her love of animals shines throughout the text. Always Here - When a Cat Dies reminds readers that memories live on. Reading this book will evoke incidents that will both enrich and sadden. Being sad is natural. The book is not about letting go or forgetting, but remembering with affection. The use of AI brings an entirely fresh dynamic to grieving, and the process is discussed in detail. I particularly liked the idea of keeping a memorial journal. A free download is available. Explaining the death of a pet to a child is also covered. The writing format is poetic. The text has an etheric quality, as if conjuring up the spirit of the departed pet. For readers like myself who have lost pet cats over the years, this book will provide a source of healing and closure. Appendices provide prompts, practices, templates, and AI interfaces. Messages from well-meaning friends are not always helpful. We should set boundaries to filter them. A list of online communities that can provide support is included, rounding off a concise and valuable publication.
