An Unproven Concept (Kraken Edition) (The Vergassy Chronicles Book 2) by James Young is a space opera set in the year 3050. Captain Bolan is conducting military exercises on board the Confederation Star Ship Constitution, a hybrid ship that Fleet Admiral Malinverni will push to succeed. Not everyone wants it to succeed, though. In the meantime, Spacefaring Ship Titanic, under the command of Captain Herrod, is slowly becoming the last of its kind as technology moves on, bringing out faster ships and pushing cruise ships to the sidelines. But Captain Herrod is not prepared to let the Titanic go down quietly. He is operating under orders to disobey Section 195 of the Spacefarer’s Code and may be about to make a decision that will have catastrophic consequences. Meanwhile the Shigure, far from being a new ship, is pushed into service for a dangerous project. She looks like an old destroyer, but she may not be all that she seems.
An Unproven Concept (Kraken Edition) (The Vergassy Chronicles Book 2) by James Young was interesting. It opened on a fast note and didn’t really slow down at all, ensuring that any reader will be caught on the hop and find themselves hanging on tight! It was a solid book with great pace and none of the over-descriptiveness that bogs you down in a story. The information was enough to get me embroiled, but not so much as to turn me off the story. It is clear that Mr. Young has put a lot of effort into this and produced a book with a good storyline, enough action to keep a reader hooked, and some very well developed characters as well. Good book; I enjoyed the story.
