"Bay House" by J.B. DiNizo is one of those novels that are a once in a life time read. Covering a span of over one hundred and fifty years, we follow the family line from 1832 to the present. The story begins with two families, the Henning’s and Tully’s. William Henning and Richard Tully, who had been best friends, had their own little fishing business and even though they had troubles at times they managed to make a profit. As they got older William eventually married and Richard went into the boat building business. As his business grew Richard never found a woman he wanted to marry but had two that he kept on the side, that was until Annabelle, Williams’s daughter, was old enough to marry and he asked for her hand. She became the love of his life and from there our story continues to 1998 and it has come down now to Sarah the great great granddaughter who now owns the old homestead that sits on Barnegat Bay. It is in danger of meeting up with the wrecker’s ball to be demolished. As she returns home will she be able to save the old home place from demolition? Will they declare the home unsafe or can it be restored and will it get into the list of Historical Homes?

This was an amazing story that I read in one evening. I found that if I tried to stop reading I couldn’t. I had to read one more page, one more chapter, till I was at the end of the book. Although the book is fiction from the very beginning it was like reading a true account of the life history of the two families. I really fell in love with the two Annabelle’s in the story, and their reckless tomboy attitudes that eventually turned them into dignified ladies. This is a novel that is filled with love, deception, sadness and forgiveness, a novel that deals with the everyday life that goes on in families not only to day but back in the 1800’s. A novel that will take many back to their own family memories of time past. You may have a smile at times and a little tug at your heart at other times. It you are looking for an excellent book to read then you will want to grab a copy of "Bay House". Recommended.
