Being Content God’s Way: A Biblical Guide to Put Off Covetousness and Put on Contentment by Scott LaPierre examines the relationship between covetousness and contentment. According to LaPierre, covetousness is choking out Christ, whereas contentment is the opposite. It is allowing God to enter into all facets of one’s heart and life. Contentment extends an invitation to us daily to take hold of, to recognize all that we already have, and to give thanks. Covetousness causes conflict, whereas contentment leads to a life of peace and abiding satisfaction rooted in Christ. Through beautiful parables and everlasting scripture, LaPierre paints a picture of what true contentment looks like and how it can transform our hearts to mirror Christ.

Contentment and a relationship with Jesus go hand in hand. Christ is the root system, and contentment is the fruit we bear when we lead satisfied lives that are fixed on pleasing the Lord through obedience, being good stewards of our time, talent, and treasures. Being Content God's Way is a graceful treatise that equips us to recognize covetousness creeping into our lives and how to extinguish it through Christ-centered contentment. We must learn to love the lives we already have instead of always grasping for more. This cannot be accomplished apart from Christ. Being Content God's Way incorporates relatable real-life stories and pinpoints the message of God's grace and the power of redemption. Scott LaPierre illustrates how, when we get back up and choose contentment after we fail, we live out the Gospel message: we all have sin and fall short of God's glorious standard, but we are saved by grace through faith, and that is the quintessential reason for contentment to overflow from our hearts and lives daily.
