“How had my life come to this?” says Lucy Mitchell in the Lucy Mitchell Series, Beneath These Stars (Lucy Mitchell Book 2) by Hannah Ellis. When Lucy met Adam over a year ago at a TV reality show, she knew she had met the one. It was his caring and compassionate personality that won her over. Lucy and Adam had a good life together, but one day everything changed. Adam’s sister, Becky, and her husband were suddenly killed. Their death caused a whirlwind of events that greatly affected Lucy’s life. Because of her relationship with Adam, Lucy must now make a decision as to whether she will be responsible and help Adam care for his nieces, Emily and Hailey, or just walk away. For a new relationship this is a great undertaking, and if Lucy decides to stay and help take on this challenge she must share this responsibility also with the girls’ grandmother and Adam’s mother, Ruth. What will Lucy decide?

In the world that we are living in today, nothing is as it seems. One day we can have the perfect job, career, family or life and in the twinkling of an eye a paradigm shift occurs. Reading Beneath These Stars is that type of story of what if, how will, and when you, which are the questions that you will be poised to answer when you are brought face to face with life’s challenges. I enjoyed reading Beneath These Stars because of the realism presented between the pages. Hannah Ellis shows that these types of decisions help to determine not only what we're made of, but who we really are when tragedy hits home.
