Bengay & Blackberry Brandy is a work of fiction in the mystery, interpersonal drama, and literary style fiction subgenres and was penned by author Kimberly J. Coleman. The work is intended for the general adult reading audience and features Hadley Hayes as its central protagonist. So when Hadley discovers that her good friend and reporter DeLaney Knight has gone missing during the search for a murderer, a call out of the blue sees her racing to investigate the disappearance. What results is a gorgeously penned adventure tale about hidden secrets, emotional revelations, and the ways that our past can come back around to affect our future.
Author Kimberly J. Coleman has crafted a very immersive and emotive work of fiction that is sure to touch the hearts and souls of everyone who encounters it. I felt that the literary styling with all its little hippie-ish details and add-ons felt perfect for the emotional undertones of the plot, and for Hadley herself as a central protagonist. The dialogue was also most effective, serving to display the unique traits of the characters whilst moving the plot forward in a natural way, and examining the little details and clues that eventually form a really interesting mystery. The plot is also so well crafted, delivering a relatively short work at a good pace that produces genuine surprises and unpredictable moments, yet it all made so much sense by the tale’s end. Overall, I would highly recommend Bengay & Blackberry Brandy to fans of quirky works of short fiction, well-penned literary atmospheres, and for readers of deeply personal dramatic works everywhere.
