Beyond the Sea: Annie's Journey into the Extraordinary is a work of fiction in the adventure, interpersonal drama, and family drama subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience. Penned by author Nina Purtee, the story follows Annie on an extraordinary journey of self-discovery and adventure. After facing a devastating tragedy, Annie's Spanish grandfather offers her the chance to join him on his sailing vessel for a transformative voyage. As Annie travels to exotic locales and encounters diverse cultures, she finds herself immersed in a love triangle between two intriguing suitors, each from a different background. Amidst the romantic entanglements, Annie is also on a quest to uncover the truth about her missing father, a British diplomat lost during the controversial handover of Hong Kong to China.
Author Nina Purtee has lovingly crafted an adventurous and exotic story filled with suspense, romance, and intrigue. Through Annie's eyes, readers are taken on a thrilling ride across the seas, where unexpected twists and turns await at every port. The pace of the novel moves swiftly over these different scenes to dive into experience after experience as we watch Annie’s whole perspective and persona become reinvigorated by her discoveries. I loved the interactions and dialogue throughout, which moved the emotional arc of the tale forward and offered great characterization for each new person who touches Annie’s heart. Overall, Beyond the Sea is a gorgeously penned work that explores themes of love, loss, and the search for identity, making it a captivating read for fans of adventure and romance alike.
