Black Moon is a work of fiction in the thriller, espionage, and suspense genres. It is best suited to adult readers owing to the presence of strong language and scenes of violence. Penned by author Andrew Ceroni, this immersive novel is a riveting adventure packed with nonstop action, featuring CIA Agent Dave McClure on a flyfishing trip in Montana during a black moon, coinciding with a breakout by members of a Mexican cartel. As chaos ensues, McClure must navigate treacherous terrain and face off against Chinese agents to rescue a former DCI and prevent further bloodshed. Ceroni's real flair for action and timing results in an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride in interesting and unexpected circumstances.
The command of plot and narrative is impressive, and Andrew Ceroni knows exactly what he wants us to focus on, allowing us to fall into the story effortlessly. From here, we get rocketed around sudden twists and turns that always feel exciting and satisfying, and the more challenges our central hero faces, the more bonded we become with him. McClure's character is compelling and multifaceted, showing both his tactical prowess and emotional depth as he confronts increasingly dangerous adversaries. The narration homes in on McClure’s journey to showcase his vulnerabilities and how he pushes past them in the face of a challenge. Ceroni's background as a former special agent lends authenticity to the espionage elements, enhancing the overall sense of realism and intrigue with intricate and credible details. Overall, Black Moon is a gripping and immersive read that will leave fans of thrillers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series, and I would highly recommend it.
