Booze, Broads, and Blackjack: There's More to the Story by Carl J. Nicita is a gambler's tale. Jack King is a night time DJ desperately looking for a better show somewhere warmer, like California. His uncle is a crime boss, not that Jack tends to get involved in that side of the business. Jack is off to Las Vegas to take part in a poker tournament with a jackpot prize of $25,000. Before he leaves, his uncle calls him in and tells Jack what he needs to do for him in Las Vegas, no questions asked. Jack leaves, taking his girlfriend with him and, from the moment they arrive in Las Vegas, everything starts to go wrong. Join Jack on this sometimes hilarious romp through the world of poker and crime as everything begins to unravel and every corner hides a new surprise, all leading to the one ending you couldn’t possibly guess.

Booze, Broads, and Blackjack: There’s More to the Story by Carl J Nicita was an interesting read. Although I found that it rambled on a bit too much in places, with more words than necessary used in conversations, there is most definitely a good story in this book. The plot is there and it is a good one. In terms of the story, Mr. Nicita has the talent required to come up with a decent storyline and a unique plot and put it in place. His development of the characters could not be faulted and I enjoyed it. It was a good, humorous tale, light-hearted with plenty of banter, and it went in the right direction all the way. There were lots of twists and turns, but each one was related to the story and it all added to the build up and the drama. Good story.
