Breathe Easy by Tammy Donahue is a touching story about Ann Montgomery, who was brought up in the countryside of Southern West Virginia. She married her childhood sweetheart, Bobby, and just as they were celebrating that they were soon going to be parents, tragedy struck. Bobby died in a mine accident, and Ann lost her baby months later. Although left lonely and feeling empty, Ann found love again with Jeff, a single father with his own family troubles and addictions. Ann got a divorce, choosing to adopt a dog and take life one day at a time. Just when she thought this was it for her, God decided to give her another chance at love.
Breathe Easy might be a tale of heartbreak, sadness, and tragedy, but it is equally a story of healing, self-discovery, and finding light at the end of the tunnel. It dives into all the ways women struggle in silence and keeps circling back to what really matters—sticking to your values, staying true to yourself, and not giving up on love. Ann is a remarkable person as she is peaceful, loving, and considerate of other people. Tammy Donahue’s writing brings her to life and makes you feel her pain and her fears. Ann’s journey has extreme highs and lows; you will fall in love, cry, and find peace with her. The plot is dynamic and unpredictable, and covers topics like parent-child relationships, paranoia, mental health and grief, domestic violence, and drunkenness. Despite the sad themes, the story carries a hope-filled message about self-love, personal growth, and empowerment. It is emotionally powerful and full of authenticity. It is a wonderful read for anyone who loves inspiring stories about love, loss, and healing.
