Built to Finish: How to Go the Distance in Business and in Life by Steven Pivnik is a non-fiction business book in which the author gives lots of advice on starting and running a business. He uses his company, Binary Tree, to show what he did from the beginning to the end. He also uses his life stories as a marathon runner and a triathlon athlete to help explain his points. Steven talks about why you need to keep up with your finances and hire the right people. He also uses key takeaways at the end of each chapter. He even has questions at the end of the book for you to ponder.
I thought that Built to Finish by Steven Pivnik was very informative and inspiring. I loved how he used his sport as a triathlete to explain things and I was quite impressed with his depth of knowledge. I loved the little nugget about Evander Holyfield and the key takeaways after each chapter which made it easier to remember. I loved the chapter about failures. I got a real 'aha' moment from that one. And the one about exits - I never thought of it like that, but it makes perfect sense now. I loved how Steven gave us questions at the end so we could mull over them. The last chapter about his IRONMAN World Championship was a nice touch. I kept wondering how that went. I highly recommend this book for entrepreneurs, even if you're a seasoned one. I am definitely going to use this advice.
