AML/KYC compliance measures are essential in all financial institutions, be it banks, fintech, or investment firms. With her work experience in the field of financial crime, Lynette Leslie brings readers AML/KYC Made Easy. This book delves into the fundamentals of AML and KYC, everything someone aspiring to work in financial institutions needs to know. Starting with the practical workflow of ongoing reviews, the guide also explains the qualities of a good analyst and what constitutes money laundering. It dives deep into how financial institutions organize accountability through a Three Lines model. Readers will also learn about how the AML/KYC framework works in the US, customer due diligence (CDD), risk assessment, the difference between source of funds and source of wealth, customer risk rating, and much more.
AML/KYC Made Easy is basically an all-in-one guide for learning the frameworks of AML and KYC in the US. I think this book will particularly appeal to people seeking a career in financial compliance or other fields related to investigating financial crimes. One of the things that struck me instantly while reading was how well author Lynette Leslie has explained the topics. Although the subject matter is quite technical, Leslie makes the narrative engaging and accessible so that general readers can fully understand the concepts. I learned quite a few things about KYC and AML from this book, especially the parts about analyzing risk and how it differs from customer to customer. All in all, Leslie succeeds in making the guide really informative. Highly recommended.
