Bunny’s Big Day of Sounds by Cansu Ozer is a fun and educational book for young children. The illustrations and playful color palette created by Febriyana Fadillah perfectly depict this story. This board book encourages early readers to identify words by understanding the relationships between letters and their sounds. Bunny witnesses or participates in daily activities like brushing teeth, eating breakfast, or hearing a car drive by. Each page includes the sounds or words heard with each activity. Little learners can relate to the daily routine and will be interested in the colorful images of Bunny and a dog friend.
Bunny’s Big Day of Sounds is a little treasure. In my opinion, Cansu Ozer has penned a fresh, new classic. There are a couple of reasons I loved this book. First of all, I appreciate that while little ones will find the cute pictures amusing, there’s a lot of subliminal learning going on, led by the adorable Bunny! This is not an ordinary baby storybook. The author has impressive educational credentials. Therefore, I feel confident that when one is reading the book to children, they are actually learning. Lastly, the legendary Pat the Bunny sensory book by Dorothy Kunhardt has been read to children in my family for generations. That book is cherished for its tactile interest. But I’ve not seen a book that focuses on audibility and speech by reading not just words, but also sounds. Make room on the shelf for Bunny’s Big Day of Sounds: A Playful Story for Early Speech Development!
