Call Her Janie by S.R. Fabrico has the ideal mix of suspense and romance. The protagonist, Lizzie Levine, was director of operations at a prominent New York firm and enjoyed a great life with Gray Stone. However, after a painful disappointment and heartbreak, Lizzie left it all behind and moved to a small town to reinvent herself. Her path crossed with Josh, a kind man who listened to her and understood her. He gave her the space she needed, but he was also looking for a serious commitment. For Lizzie, it was not that easy to reciprocate his affection because the events of the past came back to haunt her. Even Gray sought her out to ask for a second chance. Unexpectedly, Lizzie discovered big secrets. She understood that she could not let go of her experiences, but at the same time, she needed to move on with her life.

Call Her Janie has a shocking and unpredictable plot. I loved the way S.R. Fabrico intertwined the events of the past without the plot feeling forced because the events occurred naturally. I liked Lizzie because she is a complex character, showing her strengths and weaknesses in equal measure. We see her in sad moments reflecting on her past, but she fights to achieve her goals when necessary. Although all the characters are well-developed, Josh was my favorite because he is romantic, detailed, and knew how to wait for the right moment to approach Lizzie. The author has a fluid writing style and maintains suspense while revealing key information in stages. Life in a small town is portrayed charmingly. This is an exciting romance that shows the complexity of love in all its facets.
