Captain and Me at Sea! by Veronica Iñiguez follows Captain, a young pirate, and Me, his parrot, as they scan the ocean and spot something unusual drifting on the waves. Nobody knows what it is—maybe a sea monster, maybe treasure, maybe something brand‑new. Captain and Me aren’t about to ignore it, so they rush to get their ship ready. The trip is anything but smooth. Captain ends up tangled in the ropes, the wind starts pushing the ship around, and the water gets rough. Still, Captain and Me tug, twist, steer, splash, and think through every obstacle, determined to reach the mystery before it disappears. With bright watercolor art and plenty of pirate fun, this high‑seas adventure invites young readers to grab a telescope and join the crew.

Captain and Me at Sea! is a lively picture book that mixes adventure with early learning in a way that feels natural. Veronica Iñiguez gives Captain challenges that young readers can easily follow, and each one encourages kids to slow down, think, and try a solution instead of rushing ahead. Bonnie Lewis’s watercolor art adds plenty of detail for children to look at, especially the ship, the ocean, and the tools Captain uses along the way. The book includes a pirate glossary and a seek‑and‑find activity. There’s also a section for parents with open‑ended questions that help kids talk about bravery, curiosity, and staying calm when things get tricky. It’s a warm, interactive story that supports problem‑solving, builds confidence, and gives families an easy way to enjoy a nautical adventure together.

Captain and Me at Sea! by Veronica Iniguez is a unique adventure that children are going to love. This is an adventure on the seas that takes you into a day of a pirate’s life. Captain is brave and strong and has a feathered companion, Me, as his only company. They embark on a mission to find answers to a mystery that has them confused. Instead, they find themselves in the middle of a scary situation: a storm. But they know that together they can find their way out of the mess and find the answer to the mystery. This lovely story provides a gentle lesson for children that sometimes solving mysteries is as easy as seeing what’s right in front of you.

This pirate-themed story is about curious minds, bravery, and fun. The illustrations capture the fear and fun through expressive characters and take children along for the adventure. The visuals are an important element of the book. The font style is playful, with some words bent, others color coded, and at all times playful and energetic. The visual choice allows children to focus on a word at a time, which will help those learning to read improve. One of the funnest parts of the illustrations by Bonnie Lewis is the inclusion of different animals hidden on the pages, with a sneaky little mouse and cat often found on the ship. However, the central theme revolves around the mystery. The story is whimsical and light, with an interactive quality that is perfect for children and parents to enjoy together. Captain and Me! by Veronica Iniguez will have children playing pirates, while inspiring them to be curious and adventurous.

Veronica Iñiguez’s Captain and Me at Sea! introduces us to a young pirate named Captain and his faithful feathered friend, Me. The adventure truly starts when Captain spots a mysterious shape floating on the water. Determined to investigate, this tiny crew of two sets sail on a wonderful sea voyage. Of course, the journey throws some heavy challenges their way, and they quickly find themselves in a bit of a fix! They get wrapped up in tangled ropes, fight their way through a wild storm, and then battle a bad case of afternoon exhaustion. Instead of throwing a fit or panicking, Captain stops to take a comforting breath and gather his thoughts to fix the problem.

Captain and Me at Sea! by Veronica Iñiguez is an interactive children’s picture book that works beautifully for cozy reading sessions right at home. The book uses a lot of playful piratical phrases that give the dialogue a bouncy, engaging rhythm children will love to repeat. It is wonderful to find a tale that highlights a child’s sense of wonder while making certain the overall journey stays gentle and reassuring. The close relationship between the young Captain and his loyal feathered friend brings a lot of heart to the adventure, making their teamwork feel special. Bonnie Lewis fills the book with gorgeous illustrations, creating bright, lively art that captures the eye and holds a child’s attention easily. Having the parent guide at the very end is a helpful touch, offering adults easy ways to chat about the story’s lessons with their kids. It is a great choice for early readers, offering a warm invitation to look at the world with fresh eyes.
