Catching Raven is a work of romantic and dramatic fiction written for adults by author Cb Tucker. In this adventurous and emotional rollercoaster, we meet central protagonist Samantha Raven, who is a tough and intelligent woman fighting hard for a good life. Determined to protect her teenage daughter Elizabeth from the dark side of the world that she herself experiences as a forensic accountant, Samantha does fine until the wily and charismatic Trevor Paterson enters her life. Trevor’s arrival shakes Samantha from her stability, threatening to unearth secrets that will rock her world but may also be the only way forward to discover true happiness in the future.

Author Cb Tucker presents a real journey of emotional depth and lots of intrigue in this first volume of work following Samantha Raven. She is a well developed heroine that is sure to appeal to independent women, with a strong character and a set of beliefs that she remains faithful to throughout the tale. This doesn’t mean, however, that she isn’t shaken to her core, and the plot construction of the unfolding intrigue works really well to show us much more to her character and the truths that Trevor draws out in her. Tucker’s writing delivers good pacing to move the story along swiftly, making it a highly readable work that is sure to keep fans engaged from cover to cover. Overall, Catching Raven is a recommended read for fans of strong female heroines, intrigue, and romance.

Catching Raven is the first entry in a romance series by Cb Tucker. Samantha Raven is a business-minded single mother. Her world revolves around her fifteen-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. Samantha has had her share of pain and deception and has decided to protect her daughter from the wiles of the world. While she isn’t ready to bring a man into her house, Trevor Paterson then happens. He is handsome and attractive, a man with manners that get noticed by women very quickly. While Samantha wants to ignore this magnetic guy, her daughter also notices and likes him. As Samantha gets involved with him in business, she begins to see him as the calm in the center of a storm. Can she confront her demons and give love a chance?

This is a beautifully written story that will grip the reader from the very first page. I enjoyed meeting Samantha and her friend Jennifer at the beginning of the story. She comes across as someone who is focused, well-organized mentally, and a great negotiator. The reader notices her right off the bat, but inside her calm demeanor, there is a turmoil that makes her life a living hell. The balance in her life comes from her relationship with her daughter, but all of this is about to crumble, thanks to Trevor. The writing is beautiful and I loved the way Cb Tucker captures the emotions of the characters. In spite of Sam’s well-constructed discipline, it is hard not to feel the attraction for this handsome man. The relationship between daughter and mother is also well-developed. Catching Raven is well-paced, engrossing, and featuring characters that are real and that readers easily want to follow.

In Catching Raven by Cb Tucker, Samantha Raven is not only an expert forensic accountant but a single mother to a 15-year-old computer whizzkid, Elizabeth. When Samantha's company, Hutchinson Accounting Group, asks her to help a company, Fletcher Group, avoid bankruptcy, she begins to make dangerous enemies. Samantha believes she can handle anything that comes her way, but even she will not be able to control Fletcher's brutal union boss, Jimmy Dittle. Samantha's life is further complicated when a handsome client, Trevor Paterson, enters her life. Although Samantha does her best to remain professional and focus on raising her daughter, events take a horrific turn and now both she and Elizabeth are in danger. As Samantha battles to take back control of her life, little does she realize that Trevor can rid her of the enemies of her present and the painful memories of her past.

I always love a novel with strong female characters and this story has them in abundance. Samantha is a beautifully crafted character with values any working, single mother would relate to. Elizabeth also had some very redeeming qualities for such a young girl and I loved her strong spirit. I thought the scenes in the boardroom were realistic and well researched. The story moves continually forward with clever plot twists throughout. There are some strong subplots that support the main storyline effectively and gave it more layers of interest. The relationship between Elizabeth and Samantha was especially endearing. In Catching Raven by Cb Tucker the tension really builds with some explosive scenes. The ending tied up all the unanswered questions and includes a shocking revelation.
