Charlotte’s Restrained by Celia Kennedy is a humorous novel chronicling the adventures of poor Charlotte Young and her slew of misfortunes. After a complicated encounter with celebrity Des Bannerman, Charlotte finds herself slapped with a restraining order, much to her bewilderment. All seems to be forgotten when she falls into a whirlwind romance with gorgeous Irishman Liam Molloy. However, the past will not stay past as Charlotte keeps running into Des in the most unlikely places. Knowing she must face up to this man’s slights sooner or later, Charlotte racks up the courage to get to the bottom of the mysterious restraining order. Will she manage to get past the snafu and walk into the sunset with Liam?
It was truly a pleasure to read Miss Kennedy’s novel. I will admit to laughing out loud at some of Charlotte’s adventures as well as more than a few of Liam’s jokes. There was a particular one about “hallway sex,” but I will not give away the details! The novel was a fun and relaxing read. I liked reading about different places and people. As well as Charlotte, I was introduced to a group of her friends, whom I hope will be featured in books very soon as they all sound like incredible characters. Miss Kennedy has an eye for detail, right down to the designer brands of clothing each person wore. I could imagine their light interactions and joking conversations with little effort. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Charlotte’s Restrained and look forward to reading other works by Celia Kennedy.
