Chipper Races Right by Kimber Fox Morgan is a children’s picture book. The Arctic Race is coming to town, and Chipper and his friends want to win. But Rocky the Raccoon from Little Rock always shows up and wins. Rocky is competitive and can’t stand losing, but Chipper and his friends want to win for the benefit of their hometown. They come up with a plan to train hard and practice their moves in the snow. Can they bring home the trophy this year, or will Rocky win again?
Chipper Races Right by Kimber Fox Morgan is a lovely tale about a fox called Chipper and his Arctic friends, Marta, Gus, and Scout, training and taking part in the Arctic Race. But it’s about a whole lot more than that. This story teaches children that they can’t win if they don’t put in the work. It concerns perseverance, but there are other lessons to be learned. These involve having fun and enjoying what we do. It also teaches children to be kind to others and that sometimes it’s not only about winning but helping others. The illustrations in this tale are wonderful, expertly drawn by Kim Sponaugle, and help to bring the adventure to life. The story is also narrated in rhyme and is easy for children to read and understand. It is well written for its audience with a fun plot and clear messages, guaranteed to be loved by children of all ages at home and school. It should be included in children's reading clubs as well.
