Carol Andrews has no plans to attend her fortieth high school reunion. Her student life at Mount Saint Francis Academy was not quite memorable, no thanks to Meg Mahoney. Yet her friend Nancy successfully convinces her to join the reunion planning committee. They decide to spend the night at the school, but when they arrive at their room, Carol and Nancy find their former classmate in one of their beds – she is dead. Class Reunions Can Be Murder: Every Wife Has a Story is part of Carol and Jim Andrews Baby Boomer Mystery series by Susan Santangelo.

I’m not from the baby boomer generation but I’m still able to relate to the characters, especially Carol and Nancy, and thoroughly enjoy the banter between these two best friends. I also know real people who – personality wise – resemble characters Sister Rose and Meg Mahoney. The clear but deft writing style and the witty dialogue make the reading fun from start to finish. Class Reunions Can Be Murder is a cozy mystery but the clever plot with the unexpected twists is on par with the much heavier mystery novels that I have read before. I absolutely love the hilarious yet astute sayings at the start of each chapter.

Overall, a superb novel. Author Susan Santangelo is a true gem in the mystery and baby boomer genre. There are also added bonuses at the end of the book, a short guide about girls and bullying, plus delicious reunion buffet recipes that you really don’t want to miss.
