Clueless in Croatia by Joy Skye is a contemporary romance novel that is fun to read. After Leonard’s messy divorce from Rennie, nothing else interested the movie superstar. He just needed a break from filming to focus and write his music. His agent, Angelica, sent him and his sons off to the perfect remote getaway spot on a holiday island in Croatia. There, he met their concierge, a widow named Isabelle, and her son, Luka. It was attraction at first sight, but she had a preconceived notion about him because of the dirt she’d read in the news. However, with their children hell-bent on bringing them together and Leonard’s agent determined to keep them apart, what will it be? The two adults must decide in their hearts if their destinies align.
Clueless in Croatia by Joy Skye is a fantastic novel that’s part contemporary romance and part comedy. The plot of the novel was a very engaging one, and the characters were interesting. Trust, loyalty, selfishness, and deceit were some themes explored in this book. I also picked up some important lessons from it. We are our only limitations and our biggest motivator. People hold others back from accomplishing, not because they won’t succeed, but because it wouldn’t serve the detractor’s purpose. If you have a gut feeling about something, do it regardless of other people’s opinions. My most favorite character was Alex; he was wise beyond his years. I enjoyed the seamless flow of dialogues and the satisfactory finish. I hope Joy will write more, especially Rennie’s and Angelica’s stories post-Leonard.
