Clyde is a science fiction thriller by Evan Borchert. Clyde can't feel his senses. All he sees is darkness. With no memories, Clyde is instead haunted by lucid dreams, while his entire body is paralyzed. Dr. Horatio Mizaridio (Jim Bob) attends to Clyde, unaware that he has become conscious. After Clyde reveals himself to Jim, the two work together to fix Clyde's mind and body. Jim also shares secrets from his own past with Clyde, who soon realizes that the future of humanity might rest in his hands. After Jim catches the flu, Clyde must team up with other survivors to fend off the existential threat to human civilization. However, everything is not as it seems, as all of humanity's hope lies in Clyde's last-ditch plan.
For fans of post-apocalyptic survival tales, Clyde is the perfect book for the holidays. Laced with mystery and intrigue, the novel draws you in from the very first page and takes you on a wild rollercoaster ride full of surprises. You never know what will happen next, and this sense of tension and suspense keeps you engaged all the way through. Evan Borchert builds on an interesting premise, crafting a narrative that follows a unique protagonist who becomes increasingly human as the plot unfolds. The pacing is excellent. There's not a single dull moment in the entire book, and you never feel the need to take a break. The ending is bittersweet. But I found it very satisfying and that it suited the story. If survival and dystopian stories are your thing, do not miss out on this novel.
