Craving Beauty (Wylder Tales Book 1) by Jennifer Silverwood is the story of Vynasha, a young woman who has faced a lot of hardship in her life. She has lost her family in a fire, which left her scarred and struggling to survive. Trying to protect what little family she has left, Vynasha is asked to break a curse on a castle and its inhabitants, including a beast. She soon finds out that not everything is what it seems, but neither is she.
Jennifer Silverwood has written an interesting and well-woven tale with Craving Beauty (Wylder Tales Book 1). I have read a lot of Beauty and the Beast retellings, but this story is one of the better ones. There is so much to it and it includes a few interesting twists along the way. I do like the Gothic theme to it too; it suits the story. The author has created a diverse and interesting world while still holding onto the elements of the original story. Vynasha has learned to survive, but not always in a way people will like. Hated and rejected, and knowing she is responsible for the death of her family, she makes some tough choices. She knows the world is a hard place and to survive, she needs to do whatever it takes, even if that means venturing into a strange place with a cursed beast and other strange wonders. I think that readers who love fantasy tales and fairytale retellings would enjoy this book immensely and I would recommend it.
