D.O.G.: Executive Order by Robert Barlow Jr is an action-packed political novel with twists that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the end. The president tasked Sniper Team D.O.G. to terminate terrorist leader Aamir Salam Rahim. Sergeant First Class Jason Hones and Gunnery Sergeant Zach Hinson were ready to get the job done. However, things quickly went haywire when they were betrayed and compromised. Captured and battling for survival, Jason and Zach scrambled to live while they uncovered the political drama that led to their current predicament. Why did the president want this terrorist dead? Who compromised Sniper Team D.O.G.?

D.O.G. is an exciting, action-packed novel that kept me invested until the end. The story's tone was set from the opening scene, and I knew I would love this novel from that point onward. I liked Zach and Jason. Zach was the brains, while Jason was the brawn. One was perceptive, while the other was the support system. Jason and Zach had a mystery to solve and find a way to get back home safely to reveal the real face of the power-hungry president who was ready to risk it all to keep the presidency. The author had me guessing what would happen next and then surprised me multiple times. The pace was fast without being too much, the dialogue was incredible, and the descriptions were very picturesque. Author Robert Barlow Jr ensured his readers were entertained until the end. I enjoyed this unique action/military/political novel!

D.O.G.: Executive Order is an action novel by Robert Barlow Jr. Gunnery Sergeant Zach Hinson and Sergeant First Class Jason Jones from Team D.O.G. are ordered by the President to kill a terrorist leader. Directly after the kill, the enemy was on the team's trail, indicating that they knew the team’s position. Team D.O.G. tried to contact Red Sky Six for their extraction but never got a response to their repeated calls. Hinson and Jones were forced to defend themselves, resulting in Hinson’s fractures before they were captured. A team was sent after Hinson and Jones but was told that they had taken up arms with the terrorist leader. The mission was to kill them before they could share classified information with the enemy. Hinson and Jones are in a battle to survive.

D.O.G.: Executive Order by Robert Barlow Jr. was complex and exciting. The plot kept me tense and on the edge of my seat. The writing style was creative and descriptive, and I was drawn into Hinson's and Jason’s battles for survival. I was intrigued by this thrilling read from the start until the end. The story was fast-paced and loaded with action. With all the twists and turns, I never knew what to expect in the next chapter. It had me guessing until the end. The characters were intriguing, each with a back story, and they were strong and likable. There were quite a few characters I did not like at all. The story was well written and will stay with me for a long time.

D.O.G.: Executive Order is a military/political thriller by Robert Barlow Jr. Two elite members of the D.O.G. sniper team, Gunnery Sergeant Zach Hinson and Sergeant First Class Jason "J.J." Jones, were hunting terrorist leader Aamir Salam Rahim in the Pakistani mountains above the Swat Valley District when they realized that their position had been compromised, and soon found themselves the captives of Abu Midian clan leader, Ahmad Fahd Assad. The POTUS quickly announces their deaths to the public to conceal his connections to the terrorists. However, D.O.G. Company Commander Captain Tim Stewart has other plans and successfully leads a covert operation to rescue Zach and J.J. Now, Zach and J.J. must do their part as members of a stealthy and elite group formed by Colonel Grant Sullivan that works toward saving America from its enemies within.

Robert Barlow Jr. delivers an action-packed page-turner bound to win over the hearts of military action thriller fans. The first half of D.O.G.: Executive Order is soaked in military action, suspense, and intrigue, while the latter half plays out like a political thriller with ever-rising stakes. Barlow Jr. has a knack for crafting vivid action sequences that make you feel like you're on the battlefield. Apart from the larger stakes of the story, there are moments in the book where Zach's and J.J.'s family members are featured, and it humanizes the soldiers and makes them empathetic to the reader. I am still somewhat on the fence about the ending. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to readers who savor military action thrillers with a healthy dose of political messaging.
