Daily Bread: A Guide to Faithful Perseverance for Young Adults and Teens by M Jamal Colson Ed.D. is a devotional book that instills faith along with practical teachings. The author has created a highly scriptural and educational book that creates a foundation of truth and steadily builds upon it. This book is written in such a way that it can easily become a Bible companion. The author's style is welcoming and direct. This is not only a motivational book of biblical truths; moreover, it is a tool of change in body, soul, and spirit.

What I enjoyed about this book is the teaching style. It was not condemning but uplifting. I found myself reading certain parts more than once. You can feel the compassion embodied in this devotion. The author's heart is poured out in such a way that it forces you to take heed of the section you're reading. The scriptures help create a solid foundation on which the truth of the Word of God can stand. The author has also included a part where readers go through a self-examining phase, where the teachings become a living word. The author's ministerial style is apparent and easily comes forth in a nonjudgmental way. This method opens the book up to all ages with an emphasis on the youth. I would recommend this book to all believers and anyone who wants to understand biblical teachings. The author uses engaging questions that take the words out of the book and place them in the reader's heart.
