Jessa Whitley, a high school student, could never have imagined, not even in her wildest dreams, that she was a Demigod. There seemed to be enough chaos in her life without any supernatural influence. In fact, having been through a tumultuous junior year, all she looked forward to was surviving her senior year. However, fate, or perhaps the gods, had other plans for her. It all begins during a summer kick-off event, when Paul, also Apollo, the god of art, and Cynthia, his sister, Artemis, come to her rescue after being attacked by Hypnos, the god of sleep, and his minions. Soon, she learns that she is Hercules’s incarnate, and her role on earth is to fight supernatural forces from the underworld, to protect the world, and maintain the fragile balance between human beings and the gods. Is the asthmatic Jessa up to the task ahead? Find out in Daughter of Ash and Myth by C. C. S. Jones.

Lovers of young adult urban fantasy novels blended with Greek mythology, adventure, drama, and action will find Daughter of Ash and Myth by C.C. S. Jones an enthralling read. Jessa is an anti-hero that most teenagers will easily relate to. She is not only clumsy, asthmatic, and insecure, but also struggles to assert herself among her peers. Coupled with her unstable relationship with her mother, thanks to her mother’s preoccupation with her dating life, Jessa feels and lives like an average nobody. However, she displays remarkable fierceness and determination in the face of adversity, showing that not all heroes are perfect. Unfolding the story through Jessa’s perspective, Jones gives readers insight into her conflicts, thoughts, and emotions. She embodies a coming-of-age journey that explores the dynamics of navigating teenage life and a dysfunctional family, albeit with a mythical touch. The dialogue is contemporary and is riddled with snark, humor, and teenage slang.
