Dead-liner is a work of fiction in the science fiction, suspense, and thriller subgenres. It is best suited to mature readers owing to the use of explicit language throughout and some scenes of graphic violence. Penned by author Mori Grant, this gripping tale is set in a future where Earth is on the brink of destruction, and a starship becomes humanity's last hope for survival. Sent on a centuries-long journey to the new home planet of Vencus, the refugees aboard the ship face a grim reality as sickness ravages the population with no cure in sight. As despair spreads, Lune, a brilliant inventor, discovers that not all the deaths aboard the ship are caused by illness. Uncovering a chilling truth, Lune must convince others that there's foul play at hand, even as the shocking identity of the prime suspect threatens any chance of survival for humanity.

Author Mori Grant has lovingly crafted a dystopian world filled with tension, mystery, and a sense of impending doom, making for a thrilling reading experience that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The characters, particularly Lune, are well-developed and relatable, drawing readers into their struggles and dilemmas, and I was really impressed with the originality of the dialogue and how Lune’s attitudes are shaped by the surrounding world. The plot unfolds at a brisk pace, with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. The action had an episodic feel that gave moments of satisfaction with certain plot hooks wrapping up but always building to a bigger conclusion. As the story delves into themes of survival, trust, and betrayal, it raises thought-provoking questions about the lengths to which people will go to secure their own future, intensifying the thriller and suspense elements all the more. Overall, Dead-liner is a captivating read that offers both thrilling entertainment and deeper insights into the human condition, and I would certainly recommend it for fans of accomplished science fiction everywhere.
