Digest of the Broken Road Traveler: Fifty-Two Truths, Tenets, and Teaching to Heal the Troubled Soul is a work of non-fiction in the inspirational writing and self-help subgenres. It is best suited to the general adult reading audience and was penned by author R. Glenn Kelly as the seventh addition to the EmpathGrowth series of helpful and poignant books. In this edition, we discover new ways to continue the journey of healing from trauma and loss in our pasts, complete with new analogies for how we want to see ourselves in life. The author focuses deeply on being self-aware in a world where outside influences can make us feel less than we deserve to feel, and showcases positive and practical means for forging and following our own path.
Author R. Glenn Kelly has been through a lot in life, and has used these experiences not only to heal himself, but to offer hope and healing to others who walk similar paths of grief, despair, and self-consciousness. The most striking and heartfelt quality of the work for me was the narrative style of the author, which showcases so much heart, personality, and empathy in every well-penned and sensitively considered sentence. I loved that Kelly examines life from every angle and perspective to encourage critical thinking, and the metaphors used to describe concepts of the inner and outer self were so powerfully visual and really easy to access and understand. The tenets, anecdotes, and ideas presented are also concise and easy to digest in a single sitting, offering much re-readability, with a great organizational structure to find the lesson you need again so easily. Overall, I would certainly recommend Digest of the Broken Road Traveler to any lost soul in search of guidance; you won’t regret it.
