Diving In Deep by Nora Ballew is a clever way of discussing the issues of weight many teens face. Kelly Eberly is obsessed with losing weight. She wants to be thin and attractive. She starts following a strict diet and she charts out a swimming routine to help her lose weight. Her weight loss is sudden and everyone starts noticing it.
The topic of weight loss is very relatable because it is something that many adolescents go through. The anxieties and insecurities of a teenager have been captured perfectly by the author. It is a gentle reminder to adults, too, who have passed through this stage while growing up. The book also has a strong Christian message and it is a good way of making teenage girls aware of the presence and power of God in their daily lives. The story is that of any normal family where there are conflicts and differences of opinion among the family members. The book reiterates your faith in God and advises teenagers to turn to God for guidance during times of distress and turmoil.
The theme of the book is honest and it deals with a relevant theme. This is a story that will ring a bell in the minds of people from all age groups and all walks of life. The book is a must-read and it takes you closer to God. Kelly's aunt, her brother, and friends are all people you will see in your daily lives.
