Author Biography

Michael Zummo was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1974. Some know him as a software developer, others as a usability expert, still others as a board and video game designer. One little boy calls him father.

From his earliest days he was enthralled by computer games, specifically the Sierra On-line adventure games. They inspired his sense of exploration in strange lands, and interactive storytelling.

In 1996, he graduated from Caroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin with a double degree in computer science and communications.

Throughout his winding career in interactive marketing, video game design, and creating user interfaces, each adventure held the same root. What motivated him wasn’t just understanding people and creating digital interactions. Taking people through an experience—on a journey—is his true passion.

Writing has become the ultimate vehicle to make it happen.

D'mok Revival: New Eden is the first book of the New Eden story, a part of the D’mok Revival literary universe created by science fiction author Michael Joseph Zummo. In this continuing saga, the superhuman D’mok Warriors are pushing back the Nukari beasts to what remains of the world they once lorded over. The D’Mok Warriors have just scored an important victory, but the threat is still alive and real with the Nukari leader, Kajlit’ga, on the loose, and her beasts and their allies continuing with their attacks. Rhysus Mencari, whose family is believed to have been killed during the invasion, commands the D’Mok Warriors from the war room of New Eden, hoping to crush the Nukaris so that his people will find lasting peace and freedom. The discovery of a prison planet, however, will deepen Mencari’s resolve, as he is faced with the possibility that his family may still be alive.

Released in 2013, Michael Zummo's D'mok Revival series is listed among the "Top 20" in the Amazon Science Fiction list. And in D'mok Revival: New Eden, the author launches another impressive chapter in the colossal fight between the Nukari beasts and the D’Mok Warriors. The war is not over and it is simply mesmerizing to follow one action scene after another taking place in strange planets and fought with highly imaginative advanced technologies. If you’re already a fan of Zummo’s writing style, you’ll be glad to know that his narrative style still has that sense of urgency that makes his story jump under your very eyes. And as we are caught in the exciting head rush of his narrative, we get to know each of his complex characters and understand the reason why they behave the way they do, whether we spend many chapters with them or only a few pages.

D’mok Revival: New Eden by Michael J. Zummo continues the story of the D’mok Warriors and their leader, Rhysus Mencari. As the book begins, the warriors are in a good mood, in the aftermath of the Coalition’s apparent defeat of the evil Nukari empire. A new space station, New Eden, has been established that is bigger and better than its predecessor, the Trading Post, and plans are afoot to establish a new Academy there. However, it soon becomes apparent that some of the Nukari are still out there in space. And when you have Nukari, you have the fearsome Nukari Beast Warriors — part Nukari and part beast, with enhanced abilities. As one of the team observes, they could almost be considered cute if they weren’t able to rip you to shreds. The warriors’ odyssey brings them to different worlds — to a planet so polluted that it has a Smog Sea, to a prison planet where they pose as guards in order to rescue a team member who is imprisoned there, and more.

If you’re a fan of Star Wars and Star Trek, you’ll love Michael J. Zummo’s D’mok Revival, the latest book in a series. The characterizations of the team members are fascinating, from the level-headed Rhysus to Naijen, who has the abilities of a space age warrior but the heart, and love of one-to-one fighting, of a street thug. The introduction of a spiritual element, in the personification of the gods of Argosy, is something that is lacking in most science fiction and is welcome here. All in all, D’mok Revival: New Eden is not only an entertaining science fiction novel, but it could easily be a motion picture blockbuster.

D'mok Revival: New Eden by Michael Joseph Zummo is a colorful tale of courage and heroism, a masterful crafting of sci-fi that will come across as a sumptuous treat to readers who love action-packed, fast-paced, and hard-to-put-down novels. Rhysus Mencari has successfully led the army of the D’mok against the continual onslaught from the Nukari Beast Warriors, a merciless and powerful group of conquerors. Under his leadership, the small team of D’mok warriors has successfully kept New Eden in peace and protected, but now he knows a secret that can destroy everything he has achieved. Members of his community that were thought to have been murdered by their enemies aren't dead. In fact, they have been captured as prisoners. The race is just beginning where it should have ended, and the challenge may yet be even bigger than Rhysus might have imagined.

D’mok Revival is a powerful opening in the New Eden Saga, a work of great imagination and skill. From the naming of characters to the setting and the plot, the author transports readers into an enchanting world where breathtaking action takes place. Yes, the action is intense and at times dizzying, and the characters are the kind that readers love to follow wherever they go. The author works around a concept of a new kind of magic and it is exciting to imagine an exotic world that feels so familiar. The language rings through in a spellbinding way. I fell in love with everything about the characters, especially their names, but they were incredible in action. I’ll be recommending this book to anyone interested in sci-fi with intense action and the feel of magic. It is exhilaratingly beautiful, a work of genius.

D'mok Revival: New Eden by Michael Joseph Zummo is the story of Rhysus Mencari. The D'mok Warriors have beaten the Nukari and they have created a New Eden for themselves that is safe and protected. However, this is just the beginning; they are trying to protect the land they have and trying to reclaim territories they lost to the Nukari leader, Kajlit'ga, and her beasts that wreak havoc in the lives of innocent people. Rhysus is a great leader, however, he has concerns of his own. He thought he lost his family forever, but it turns out they are held prisoners by the enemies. There is nothing he would not do for them. But can he do it? With the safety of his people resting on his shoulders, can he do what is right and what he wants?

Although I have not read the D’mok Revival series, I have heard great things about Michael Joseph Zummo and his work from my Goodreads Book Club. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that the people who compliment him are so right. Amazing, fantastic writing. He has tremendous talent; the characters he created and the world he developed seem very real. You can almost taste Rhysus’ terror and despair. He wants to find his family and you cannot help but sit with bated breath and have your fingers crossed for him. This is definitely a great novel in a new series. You have everything that grabs your attention and it will keep you wanting more. I will not be surprised if this series is another big hit for Michael Zummo.

Follow the story of Rhysus Mencari, the leader of the superhuman D'mok Warriors, whose missions are slowly leading their world, New Eden, to a hopeful freedom and lasting period of peace.
