Don't Play The Game by Wes Mogenson is the story of two best friends, 12-year-old girls Pam and Amber, the former's obsession with the game Creature Hunt Now and the latter's complete discontent with the game. Pam doesn't understand why every kid at school keeps their eyes glued to their screens, searching for animals and climbing levels. Likewise, she needs to understand why her intelligent friend, Amber, who enters and usually wins science fair competitions, is equally obsessed. However, Pam will soon have to get her head in the game and play along when disaster strikes and some of her classmates, including her best friend, go missing.

Don't Play The Game by Wes Mogenson is compelling, entertaining, and insightful. It highlights the dangers of children spending too much time online and how they can get tricked into going too far by risking their safety in the physical realm. Mogenson sends an important message to children and parents in a relevant story about online addiction. The characters are all highly relatable to children, with some bookworms and sports jocks in the mix. The fact that Amber, a brilliant young girl, endangers herself sends the critical message that anyone can fall victim to online dangers, eliminating the idea that 'it won't happen to my kid or me.' I enjoyed reading this story, it kept me on the edge of my seat, and I highly recommend that parents encourage their children to read it to realize the physical dangers awaiting in an online world.
