Dustup, by Robert Michaels, is a space adventure, but not your typical adventure in space. Out in space, when things are blown up, it leaves a lot of loose debris floating around. Many mining companies doing the blowing up sometimes don't or can't clean up the mess, usually not quick enough to suit the authorities anyway. That’s where Ted and Roger Rustred, the owners of Dustup Incorporated come in. Their job is to clean up the clutter for a price, by vacuuming up dirt and debris in space, using ships that are giant space vacuums.

After a while, the company is doing well enough for them to hire their cousin Bert. But, Bert and Dustup 3, the company’s newest spaceship go missing while on a routine cleanup job. Ted and Roger, with the help of an ex-marine and a local space cop on leave, set out to find him and their lost ship. Along the way, they discover a plot to use the ship to rob an earthbound cargo vessel and then frame a dead Bert and Dustup 3 for the crime.

Dustup is a well written and thought out story, combining futuristic technology with suspense, mystery, adventure and humor. The characterization of the two Rustred brothers, Ted and Roger, is first rate. The secondary players, both good and bad, are also well done. The plot is simple but enjoyable. Mr. Michaels uses a mixture of third and first person, but does so in a manner that takes nothing away from the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a creative and inventive space adventure tale.
