Phil Fletcher-Stokes writes from the heart and shares stories about his life in his poignant poetry book: Dying of Lassitude and Ennui. He writes about his lifelong battle with loneliness and developing relationships, reflecting the severity of these issues in modern society. Phil's health challenges and struggle with an eye condition called microphthalmia further add to his woes. Still, he sticks to a creative path by writing poems and consuming other writers' artistic publications. Apart from his personal challenges, Phil's book comprises his thoughtful commentaries on various societal issues, including the cancel culture, the state of poetry today, depression, elderliness, living as a foreigner in Thailand, mental illness, tyranny, climate change activism, and more.

Phil Fletcher-Stokes speaks like a man with nothing to lose, delivering a refreshing level of honesty that is gradually disappearing with today's cancel culture. In some poems, he writes interesting, critical words about other poets, including Arthur Rimbaud and Marianne Moore. Additionally, the book often delivers a captivating mix of humor and stinging truths. In one poem, Phil acknowledges that he "was never God's gift to the fairer sex" and highlights his physical limitations with unapologetic sincerity. The simple poems tell stories and portray the author's views in a style that's easy to read and enjoy. Overall, Dying of Lassitude and Ennui combines various skillfully crafted features: dark humor, refreshing honesty, and a distinctive voice. It's a beautiful creative work, and a call to preserve the true voice of the artist in a world heavily determined to stifle artistic freedom.
