Recovering from personal loss is not always easy, much less helping others along the way. But that's exactly what Sandy Lundy endeavored to do after the tragic passing of her eleven-year-old, Shane, who took his own life after struggling to cope with relentless bullying in school. In Earth Angels, Sandy shares Shane's story and offers valuable insights on how people can positively impact the world through kindness, compassion, and grace. Even though Shane was struggling, the school's administration did little to alleviate his grievances. The book delves into the ills of cyberbullying, workplace bullying, and toxic culture. Furthermore, Sandy shares the inspirational stories of influential pop-culture icons, such as Paul Rudd, John Cena, and Booker T, showing how they made a difference in the world. Eliminate self-doubt, erase limiting beliefs, and amplify your unique strengths.
Earth Angels is truly inspirational. Sandy Lundy gives an unflinching account of her healing journey and tells Shane's story, sharing his love of Broadway musicals as well as his struggles with bullies in school. Bullying behavior has sneaked its way into every facet of society today, be it sporting events, workplaces, or even national highways, where it's often the cause of road rage. So, how do we fight such a societal ill? According to Sandy, empathy, compassion, and kindness are key to eradicating bullying behavior from society. Through personal anecdotes and examples, Sandy shows how good deeds often lead to change for the better, while bullying only negatively affects people's lives. The author is also critical of the role of social media and shows how it enables the darker aspects of human behavior through anonymity. Overall, it's a fantastic book that I recommend to everyone!
