Echoing Hearts, the first book in the Echo Series by C. R. Alam, is a captivating contemporary romance. It explores the lives of two individuals with a shared skepticism about love due to their past experiences. Rae Allen, a travel blogger, has decided to avoid romantic entanglements after witnessing her mother suffer from heartbreak and depression, whereas Dean Rowland, a successful businessman, has completely sworn off relationships because he was left at the altar on his wedding day. When their paths cross, there is an instant attraction despite the initial clashes. As they get to know each other and the people around them, old wounds and insecurities surface, challenging their chance at happiness.
Echoing Hearts by C. R. Alam is a standalone happily-ever-after romance featuring two cynics overcoming their past to find love. The narrative moves along steadily, allowing readers to understand the characters’ relationships as they develop, with occasional spurts of action to keep the plot interesting. The multiple perspectives in the narrative helped me understand the motivations and fears of the characters and made the story more relatable and engaging. Rae and Dean are both well-developed characters with realistic flaws and strengths. The supporting characters, like Dean’s family and Rae’s friends, are equally well-fleshed out, adding more depth. Alam’s depiction of Rae and Dean’s relationship growth tugged at my heartstrings, and I think it will resonate with readers who enjoy a blend of sweet romance and heartfelt emotion. Besides the main characters, Rae’s friend Brandon intrigued me, and I was glad to see that his story will be the second book in the series, prompting me to add it to my TBR pile. For fans of romance seeking an escape with endearing characters and a touch of passion, Echoing Hearts offers just the right blend of charm and sizzle.
