Endgame by Patrick Hodges is the third book in The Wielders of Arantha series. A game is nearing its end as the impending war progresses on the planet of Elystra. Maeve sets out to rescue her captured love Kelia, who was being held prisoner by the siblings Elzaria and Elzor, while turning to King Aridor for help gaining numbers against Elzaria's forces. On the other side, Elzaria's power continues to grow as her brother plots his own agenda in search of the Third Stone, which finds them turning to a powerful Warlord. As the invading forces draw closer, someone makes a startling sacrifice as everything is set in motion to deliver a champion of the game.
The grander plot of the story finds them all participating within a grand cosmic game for the fate of the world, which has these characters at the center of determining the survival of Elystra. Powerful stones at the center of the war are driving the agendas of the characters, especially Elzor who is seeking the power for himself. The story weaves between various perspectives that allow you to see both sides of the impending war and everyone's agenda as the war invades Elystra. Other characters are seen throughout with each journey an important key to how the war unfolds. The invasion by Elzor and Elzaria is at the center of everyone's story as each is facing what to do in the time of war, with various characters putting their own plans into motion such as Mizar finding his cousin Kimar choosing to stay to protect the animals versus fleeing. Endgame by Patrick Hodges is an exciting and action-packed adventure that sees the war come to a head between the two sides as Elzaria continues to grow in power along with her brother's army and Maeve puts a plan into action while searching for her imprisoned love.
