Essential Oil Beauty Hacks is exactly the book that I’ve been looking for to make my own cosmetic products. There are products for the face, the body, pest deterrents, and actually I need to find one for my dog that will repel fleas and ticks. Essential Oil Beauty Hacks gives reasons to use essential oils, mostly being that you are eliminating chemicals from the types of products that you might otherwise use. There are also safety tips included, because some essential oils cannot be used directly on the skin, but must be incorporated into a larger amount of carrier oil. Carrier oils are a bland filler ingredient which still have therapeutic properties, but do not add scent.
The author, Anna Marie, also gives her website address which has further information on it. I just took a look and there are also links to buy many other supplies from Amazon, such as dropper bottles, jars, cleanser bottles and the like. You can make your own lip balms, deodorant, bath salts, scrubs, and facial products. I need to mention something about the facial cleansers. Anna Marie states that this will be different from your usual creamy cleansers or scrubs. She gives a few recipes for oil based scrubs or cleansers, and they may feel oily, but theoretically the castor oil used as a carrier will actually cleanse the pores, not clog them.
Essential Oil Beauty Hacks is a great book for anyone who wants to improve their family’s health by using fewer chemicals. You can actually absorb chemicals through your skin from beauty products, and they are not good for you. Natural products will benefit your body rather than add toxins. If you are skeptical, think about the nicotine or estrogen patch. Those medications go through your skin into your bloodstream, and so it only makes sense that other items you put on your skin would do the same. Try these recipes and get healthier.
