Fall is the sequel to Leslie McCauley's award-winning horror-thriller novel, Rise. After surviving the horrifying events of the first book, Nettie and Lincoln settle into their humdrum suburban lives with their twins, Evie and Jude. But their lives turn upside down while taking a seemingly regular stroll through the local park as Lincoln loses baby Jude. Feeling panicked and helpless, Nettie and Lincoln do everything in their power to find Jude, only to end up disappointed. However, their problems increase as a ghost from the past plans to torment the Connors until their last breath. To make matters worse, Lincoln finds himself as the primary suspect of the local authorities while the actual perpetrator takes Nettie and Evie captive.
Filled with suspense and horror, Fall provides thrills galore in this page-turner of a sequel that lives up to the high expectations of its much-applauded predecessor. The plot moves at a brisk pace, filled with twists and turns that you never see coming. The narrative flows smoothly, and you would be hard-pressed to find a single dull moment throughout the pages. Author Leslie McCauley writes in a clear and concise prose style that is easily accessible and feels like a breeze to go through. The characters have well-developed arcs, and every single one of them was distinct and helped to move the plot forward and keep the narrative flowing. If you're interested in fast-paced thrillers that evoke a sense of horror, Fall is the book for you.
